Silvermines GAA Notes

County Senior Hurling League

We are scheduled to face Carrick Swans this coming Sunday 17th March at 12noon in Dolla in Division 2 of the league but there is a possibility of a re-scheduling of this fixture to either Saturday 16th or to the following weekend. Updates will be on social media. Our Juniors are down to face Kilruane in Division 5 of the league at 3pm in Dolla. Best of luck to both sides in this year’s league campaigns.

U-17 Football

Hard luck to our u-17 footballers who lost out by 7-10 to 2-12 to Upperchurch in the first round of the North-Mid divisional competition in Dolla on Sunday afternoon last.

U-13 Football

Our U-13 football teams were in action on Sunday afternoonin Dolla with our D team coming out on top by 3-7 to 2-6 against Newport while our A side were defeated on a scoreline of 1-4 to 2-5 to Newport. Well done to all the Silvermines boys involved.

Silvermines LGFA Bingo Night

Silvermines LGFA will host a bingo night to fundraise for the year ahead on Friday 15th March next in Buddys Bar, Capparoe at 8pm. All funds raised go towards supporting Silvermines One Club. There will also be raffle prizes and cash prizes on the night and all are invited to come along for what promises to be a great night’s entertainment.

Silvermines GAA Easter Camp

Silvermines GAA will host an Easter GAA Camp for boys and girls aged 6-13 on March 26th, 27th and 28th from 10am to 1pm each day. The fee is €40 per child and a free sliotar and football is included in the price. Please register through the link https://tipperary.gaa.ie/tipperary-gaa-easter-camp/

Silvermines GAA Clothing Collection

Silvermines GAA will host a clothing collection on the week of the 18th to the 22nd of March. Clothes can be dropped at the dressing room beside the meeting room in Dolla on any evening (Mon-Fri) between the above dates between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Clothes, paired shoes, handbags, belts, towels, curtains, blankets, pillowcases and duvet covers can be collected. No soiled clothes, duvets or pillows.

Tipperary Camogie

Well done to Miriam Murphy and Ciara Ryan who were on the Tipperary side who drew with Kilkenny at the weekend 2-10 to 0-16 and will now face Cork in the Division 2B League final. Well done to Ellen Cunneen also who was part of the Div1 A Tipperary side who overcame Cork by 2-10 to 1-10.

Also well done to Maeve Cunneen and Robin O’Dwyer who have been selected on the under 17 Tipperary camogie panel for 2024.

Allianz NHL

Commiserations to Jason Forde and the Tipperary team who suffered a one-point defeat to Limerick on Pair Ui Chaoimh, Cork on Saturday evening last. The Tipp team travel north to face Antrim on Saturday afternoon next.

Peadar Cummins Shield

Well done to James Hanrahan and Fionn O’Shaughnessy who were part of the North Tipperary under 14 squad who won the Peadar Cummins Shield Final on Saturday.

Hurling Challenge

We hosted Shinrone GAA Club on Sunday last in Dolla for a senior hurling challenge with Silvermines coming out on top by 1-18 to 1-15 following a very worthwhile workout. Thanks to Shinrone for travelling to Dolla for the game.

Membership

Membership for 2024 is now open and can be renewed online on the Foireann app or website. This is the easiest way to pay club membership and all membership packages for the club, gym and walking track are clearly set out. Membership must be paid by all players before the season commences.

Gaeltacht Scholarships

Applications are now open for the Gaeltacht scholarships for 2024. Closing date is Friday April 12th at 12 noon and the scholarships are open to 2nd year, TY and 5th year students.  Please contact Majella, our club secretary to obtain the relevant forms. All applicants must be paid up members.

Lotto

Our club Lotto is now at 9,800 euro. Tickets can be bought from committee members or in a number of outlets in Nenagh where the Lotto jackpot is displayed. Lotto tickets can also be bought and renewed online. Also could all yearly lotto members please make contact with Maeve De Loughrey to check payment for the upcoming year.
